After all the speculation during this week about Michael Owen’s possible move to Manchester United. Well there you have it United fans, the former European Footballer of the year has finally signed for the Red Devils and we all have to admit it’s come as a surprise considering Owen’s trouble with injuries which have him kept out of the spotlight for a very long time.

But who can blame Sir Alex Ferguson? I mean even though Owen’s not had the best of times in the past what? Three or four seasons? He is quality and you can never write off a quality striker; this might just be the turning point for his career, this move might revive the prowess we know him for.
Here’s what Ferguson had to say on the club’s website
“Michael is a world class forward with a proven goalscoring record at the highest level and that has never been in question,” said manager Alex Ferguson.
“Coming to Manchester United with the expectations that we have is something that Michael will relish,” he added on the club’s official website.
Obviously Sir Alex has a lot of confidence in him and Owen will have to award this old man’s confidence.
“I had just begun to talk to other clubs when out of the blue Sir Alex phoned me on Wednesday afternoon, invited me to have breakfast with him next morning during which he told me that he wanted to sign me,” Owen said. “I agreed without a moment’s thought.”
All the best to Michael Owen, I’m not a fan of Manchester United but I like to believe Sir Alex is one of the great managers in the history of the game and he must know what he’s doing.
Till later

Must say that I find this a bit of a bizarre signing but Fergie often sees things that other people don’t.
Also I think that many people get up with the next hot, young player and they forget how important experience is - particularly amongst your strikers.

@Football Strategist,
True experience might be the one reason that Fergie signed Owen, you can’t substitute experience with anything, ever…

Personally I think it could prove to be the shrewdest signing of the season. He’s still only 27/28 and provided he can stay fit, class will always be class and Owen has that in bundles.
As a regular reader of the FOOTBALLfevr, I’d just like to say keep it up, its a grat read.
We’ve been toying for a while with the idea of our own footie review video blog. I’d be keen to know what you think of our pilot episode:

@Mike,
My feelings exactly about Owen, he’s quality and that does not change over night, he’s still that lethal striker that won many Liverpool’s fans hearts. Personally I wish him all the best.
Thanks for the compliment, I’ll continue busting my ass off to produce more quality content.
Just had a look at that Zoopy video, it’s rad and I’d love to be involved or feature your videos here on Footballfevr
