Wow, where do I start? I mean building up to this day there was so much tension around and especially after SuperSport lost to Golden Arrows on Wednesday night. The confidence might have taken a bit of a knock on Gavin Hunt’s boys, but they all knew that all they needed was a draw against Santos to successfully defend their title.

Well I mean hard luck to Pirates who fought all the way, even on Saturday they showed their strength as they beat Amazulu 3-1. I am sure they always knew that the three goals were never going to be enough if Supersport played a draw. But in all truthfulness, Supersport deserved this one, they lead the log table for a very long time and it would have been really painful had the Buccaneers stolen it on the last day.
While Supersport United are celebrating, I think Ruud Krol, coach of Orlando Pirates deserves a hand for the hard work he’s put in his first season, if you look at the position he took Pirates from, you will agree with me when I say he (Krol) didn’t fail this season, and will only get better next season. I mean when was the last time Pirates pulled a double against Kaizer Chiefs in the league? He’s brought back a lot of confidence and a winning mentality to the players and SHOULD be congratulated for that. So on behalf of FOOTBALLfevr, I say: CONGRATULATIONS MR KROL, AND THE REVIVED ORLANDO PIRATES TEAM.
So back to the champions, what can one say really except that they deserved it more than any other PSL team this season, they went through bad times in their journey to winning the league but when it mattered most they always delivered the goods. Edgar, one of our contributors here on FOOTBALLfevr wrote an interesting post a while back declaring that the PSL title would head back to Pretoria this season and of course a lot of readers disagreed with him, which lead to his post titled: Why Supersport will win the league: Facts and Opinions, you might want to give those two pieces a read if you haven’t already.
Gavin Hunt, how can i forget to mention Hunt, he’s done wonders really, he’s achievements at Supersport alone speak volumes of his abilities as a coach; he deserves every award he will be presented with. I mean which coach takes over a team and immediately wins the biggest trophy in SA football? But then doesn’t stop there, continues the next season and defends it successfully? Now that’s an achievement to proud of right there. No wonder he’s been tipped to take over at the vacant coaching job at Kaizer Chiefs. But the Supersport United Chairman shot down those rumours down today by declaring that Gavin Hunt was going nowhere. Well, personally I hope he stays at Supersport, but we shall see what happens in a couple of weeks. But if he were to leave at this point, he’s done a great job and the next person to take over would have an easier job on their hands.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL AMATSATSANTSA FANS, from FOOTBALLFEVR.
