Relegation threatened clubs threaten to sue Man United

Football just never seizes that element of surprise hey? Almost every day when I read the paper or certain football websites I stumble upon some really surprising issues. Like this threat I just read about, I’m not sure if you read this already but sharing is loving innit?

So, here’s what’s happening, the bottom three clubs are threatening to sue Manchester United if they field a ‘weakened’ side against Hull City on Sunday. I was like, HUH??

So what does this really mean?

This means that if Sir Alex decides to rest some of his stars against Hull, United could end up with a big fine for bringing the league into disrepute by breaching one of the rules.

Yes, according to Paragraph E20 of the Premier League, the rule states: In every league match each participating club should field a full strength team.”

Such a big deal hey? Well two of the teams (Boro, Newcastle and Sunderland) that are threatening to sue stand a chance to be relegated should Hull beat Man United and so just maybe we should understand their frustrations.

“If they field a reserve team at Hull who then win and stay up, then the consequences for two of the three North East clubs will be dire.”

“No one is looking for a favour, just a level playing field. And if the rules are not adhered to there are means of recourse.”

Well, let’s see if Man United budges to these threats, but my feeling is that they won’t and I also think the reserve side will still beat Hull.

This is how the log table looks like before the final fixtures this Sunday:

    Haha. That made me chuckle. They should rather focus on playing better football instead of threatening to sue the Champions. They only have themselves to blame.

    @Ash,

    LOL, that was my thought as well, since when did it matter what side you field against who? but then again these teams don’t wanna drop, maybe too little to late, maybe?
