Not really surprised are you? Well, I’m not; and if you’ve been following South African football you will not be surprised either.

Okay, so for those of you that didn’t know, the Frenchman was sacked this afternoon after failing to bring any success to the ‘big spenders’ of Mamelodi.

The arrival of Henri Michel never really sparked any kind of success to the team; I am to this day not sure why the man called his own team ‘average’. I mean coaches are supposed to motivated players not call them names in public. But I don’t want to be seen as a coward for only saying this now; rather, I will let you be the judge.

Did Henri Michel deserve to stay at Downs? Was he not the main reason why many players left Sundowns in the January transfer window? Hmmmm… you be the judge

Mamelodi Sundowns announced today that a gentleman’s agreement was concluded with Henri Michel in terms of which his services as head coach will come to an end.

The President of Mamelodi Sundowns Mr. Patrice Motsepe said,” I want to thank Henri Michel for the commitment and loyalty he showed to Sundowns whilst employed as its head coach.

Henri Michel made a huge contribution to the standard and quality of football at Sundowns and in South Africa. We wish him all of the very best in his future endeavours and he will continue to be part of the Sundowns family.”

The board of Mamelodi Sundowns has appointed Ted Dumitru as caretaker coach until the end of the season. He will be assisted by Brian Baloyi and Michael Manzini as player/assistant coaches.

Mr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized that at the end of the season Ted Dumitru will go back to continue with the good work that he has been doing at the Youth Academy.

A committee of the board of Mamelodi Sundowns, assisted by Ted Dumitru and Trott Moloto will be interviewing prospective candidates to be employed as head coach for the 2009/2010 season.

Sundowns Communications head Mahlatse Mphahlele said that further announcements in this regard will be made in due course.
