Everton v West Brom
Contenders for a place in the UEFA Cup next season (at home) versus bottom of the log West Brom. This should be easy for Everton, but expect a spirited fight.
Prediction: 1-0
Middlesbrough v Liverpool
Gareth Southgate’s team finally got a win midweek. But, he should be more worried about staying clear of the relegation zone. This has draw written all over it, but Liverpool may just sneak it
Prediction: 1-1 (or 1-2)
Chelsea v Wigan
Chelsea are a team playing with confidence at the moment and its all thanks to Guus. There’s a sense of purpose and their league performance is more determined.
Prediction: 2-0
Arsenal v Fulham
The draw kings face Fulham. Both teams had numerous chances last weekend which they failed to make count. Arsenal are playing for Europe, a hope that seems fading with every passing game.
Prediction: 2-1
West Ham v Man City
Possibly the match of the weekend. These are evenly-matched teams, alongside each other on the log. Both had games during the week (Man City as late as Thursday night). Expect a lot of goals, either team could sneak this but a draw is highly likely.
Prediction: 2-2
Hull v Blackburn
Another tough game to call. Blackburn are favourites, but they lost out to Coventry in an FA Cup replay midweek. The Tigers managed to hold a disillusioned Chelsea side to a draw a few weeks back.
Prediction: 0-0
Bolton v Newcastle
Bolton will fancy their chances. They’re even-money favourites to beat the Magpies and this seems the way to go. If this were at home for Newcastle it would be a different story altogether. Newcastle will continue to struggle away.
Prediction: 2-0
Aston Villa v Stoke
Potentially the easiest game to call of the weekend. Aston Villa should annihilate Stoke. Villa are almost assured a Champions League place and won’t want to drop any points, especially after the loss to Chelsea.
Prediction: 2-0
Carling Cup final
Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur
‘Arry’s Spurs face the form team this season. Man U want the treble or even the quadruple, and should clinch it. But it won’t be a walkover for Sir Alex’s men. This might come down to extra time.
Prediction: 2-1
